Which of these actors is a County fan?

Kirchner is the favourite to take over control of the club from current owner Mel Morris, and had previously been given exclusivity until last weekend. Now, though, the exclusivity has been extended until Saturday May 14th, as confirmed by administrators Quantuma.

Speaking on the Sportscene Rams Daily Podcast on Monday, Owen believes this could be good news. He said (05.13), “Yeah, I think that has to be the underlying takeaway from that statement, they wouldn’t be extending the exclusivity to Chris Kirschner if they believe there was a better offer out there. And equally so, if they didn’t believe that Chris Kirschner could get the deal across the line, you know, within the week. So let’s hope that this positivity can be followed through, that everybody can remain sensible around Mel Morris, to get this done.”

TIF Thoughts

This should indeed be seen as a positive step for Derby County as they look to stay afloat. They have been in administration for the majority of this campaign and, although Wayne Rooney and his players valiantly battled against relegation from the Championship despite receiving a points reduction, they still dropped down to League One.

Will Kirchner complete his takeover?

Indeed, if Kirchner has been given longer to conclude a deal, it would indicate there is hope that he is the man to take over. It seems the majority of issues have now been sorted, although Pride Park remains a problem that needs to be solved. Hopefully, this horrible saga will be over soon and supporters can look toward the future.
