Journalist Charlie Eccleshare has revealed a huge boost for Tottenham Hotspur ahead of their final Premier League games regarding an injury to Arsenal’s Gabriel which will leave them short-handed at the centre-back position during their crucial run-in.

Tottenham Hotspur handed themselves a huge boost in their quest for a top-four finish and Champions League football next season after they smashed their bitter rivals Arsenal 3-0 in Thursday night’s North London derby.

The game was a hectic derby as the game started fast and it was a physical battle throughout the 90 minutes, with the big talking point around Rob Holding’s red card and the subsequent thrashing that Spurs put on Arsenal to take them within a point of the fourth-placed team.

Who will finish in fourth?

However, some big news that might have been missed by a lot of supporters is the potential knock-on effect of another Arsenal defender’s forced exit from the game as Gabriel was subbed off in the 76th minute with an apparent injury, which according to Eccleshare, could have a lasting impact on the rest of their season.

He wrote on Twitter, “Another potentially huge bonus for #THFC, with Gabriel going off injured. If he’s out of Newcastle that leaves a half-fit Ben White as Arsenal’s only available CB”.

TIF Thoughts on Spurs’ top-four chances…

Spurs have come on leaps and bounds since they appointed former Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte back in November, having a record of 19-5-10 in all competitions since he took over the helm from Nuno Espirito Santo.

Spurs have a far easier remaining schedule than Arsenal as they face Burnley and Norwich while their North London rivals are set to face off with a revamped Newcastle and a desperate Everton who could be looking for vital points when they face off on the last day of the season.

Gabriel is a huge loss for Arsenal but it gives Spurs a huge boost as it will only leave Arsenal with a guaranteed starter in Ben White who is also coming off a hamstring injury he sustained during their game with Manchester United back on April 23rd.
