Sky Sports presenter Joe Thomlinson has been blown away by the reports suggesting there will be around 100,000 Rangers fans descending on Seville ahead of Wednesday’s Europa League final.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men face a huge clash against Eintracht Frankfurt as they look to get their hands on the Europa League trophy.

And it is clear the Gers will not be going into the game without the full support of their fans, who are expected to arrive in Seville in their thousands to cheer on their side.

However, only 9,000 tickets were made available to the Gers fans for the game, leaving the large majority of travelling supporters forced to watch the game on screens.

It is a huge week in Rangers’ season, with the trip to Seville followed by the Scottish Cup final on Saturday afternoon, and it is apparent Thomlinson is amazed by the level of support behind the Gers:

“Rangers taking 100,000 away fans to Seville for a 9k allocation for the Europa League final is actually bonkers. Some fanbase,” Thomlinson tweeted.

TIF Thoughts on Thomlinson’s comments…

Thomlinson is absolutely right, this is remarkable. To take that many fans over would have been incredible even if they were all guaranteed a ticket to the game.

But knowing the majority of fans will not even be going to watch the game in person makes this even more impressive and shows just how much support is behind Van Bronckhorst’s men.

Given the Scottish Premiership title was taken back by their rivals, Rangers fans will be hoping their support can help push their side over the line to taste European glory.
