Mark Schwarzer has revealed Ange Postecoglou’s decision not to appoint an assistant alongside him at Celtic.

Ange led the Bhoys back to the Scottish Premiership title after a disappointing campaign last season which saw them finish 25 points behind Rangers when chasing ten titles in a row.

Ange Postecoglou has brought in no fewer than 17 players since his arrival in Glasgow in what he called the start of an “extensive rebuild” at Parkhead but he didn’t bring in his own no.2 which many thought a curious decision.

Should Celtic break their club record to buy CCV?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, five manager of the month awards, a PFA manager of the season award and a Scottish Premiership later you would have to say that his decision paid off and Schwarzer has revealed how the boss has gone about his business.

Speaking on the GegenPod Football podcast Schwarzer said:

(23:14)”I went up and spoke to him not so long ago and I had that discussion with him about the fact that he was there by himself and I said to him that is really impressive and how do you deal with it and he just said, look, I walk in the building every day, with my eyes open my ears open.

“Of course, I’ve got to trust people, I’ve got to give them the benefit of the doubt, I’ve got to get them on board and it’s about convincing them every day that this is the right way forward.”

“Of course, there are certain people, certain character flaws, sometimes you just have to be aware and he said, it probably just keeps me on my toes even more.

“Every day I walk in this building, I know, I’ve got to be at my best. I’ve got to be ready on guard, and keep going and keep driving the boys forward.”

TIF Thoughts on Ange at Celtic…

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

With the Hoops now looking at a season in the Champions League perhaps Ange will be looking at recruiting off the pitch as well as on it but that remains to be seen and his bold methods so far appear to be working.

Despite an overwhelming change, Ange has secured a superb league and cup double for the Glasgow giants and he has restored their position at the top of the Scottish game.
