Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that the future of some Rangers players is uncertain despite their impressive European campaign.

Rangers have fallen short in the league this season, however, Giovanni van Bronckhorst still has two opportunities to win silverware this season, as they are in the final of the Europa League and the Scottish Cup.

There are several senior players such as Steven Davis, whose contracts are set to expire at the end of the season, so the Dutch manager will have a decision to make if he is going to offer them a new deal.

With the contracts expiring of certain players, Jones spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that it is exciting times for the younger players at the club who may get more opportunities if the senior players move on.

“I think for younger players in that Rangers squad, this is going to be extremely exciting. For the more experienced ones, a lot of them are at a key point in their career when they are still going to have to consider a transfer this summer,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’s comments…

Despite having an impressive campaign in Europe this season, Rangers have failed to win back to back Scottish Premiership titles, after their excellent unbeaten league season last term.

With the failure in the league for Rangers, Van Bronckhorst may be keen to bring some new talent in the door during the summer transfer window, in hope that they can compete with rivals Celtic next season for the title.

If the Gers do win the Europa League then it will mean that they qualify for the Champions League next season, which would be a huge bonus for the club in terms of attracting new players in the summer.
