Celtic reporter John McGinley has showered Liel Abada in praise and believes he could be a big player for the Bhoys in the future.

On Sunday, Celtic’s end of season awards took place. Abada was one of the night’s winners, taking home the club’s Young Player of the Year award following a breakout campaign that has seen the winger score 15 goals and provide 11 assists in all competitions to date.

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

Writing on Twitter, McGinley predicted a bright future for the 20-year-old. He said: “Still only 20 – the potential is big. Can’t wait to see what he does next season.”

TIF Thoughts on Abada…

Celtic completed the signing of Abada last summer for a fee of £3.4m from Israeli outfit Maccabi Petah Tikva. He had impressed in Israel, scoring 20 goals in 76 games for his former club, but there was no indication of how he would adapt to Scottish football and the expectations of playing for at Parkhead.

However, he has slotted in immensely, and has been a mainstay in the side for effectively the whole campaign. He has made 52 appearances in all competitions, missing just one Premiership match, and has found the back of the net more times in the league than any of his teammates.

At just 20 years of age, he will surely only improve as he settles in more and more in Glasgow. Ange Postecoglou and co, it seems, may have found themselves a real star of the future.
