Journalist Michael Bridge has claimed that despite winning the league, this may not be enough for Celtic fans this season.

It was recently confirmed that Celtic won the Scottish Premiership, as they sit top of the league by four points with one game to go. Ange Postecoglou was introduced in the summer, and he has done a great job by guiding the Hoops to a title-winning league campaign.

Despite Celtic coming up trumps over Rangers in the league, The Gers have a chance to go one up over their rivals, as they are in the Europa League final, where they will face Frankfurt.

Whilst speaking with GiveMeSport, Bridge claimed that the Celtic faithful may not be satisfied with their league win if Rangers end up winning the Europa League.

“Celtic have won the title, so this is the first time that they go straight into the Champions League group stages, instead of going through the qualifiers, so the league title this year was so important.

“However, this is going to annoy Celtic fans, and I’m sure, if Rangers win the Europa League, it will trump their title win. Rangers fans were partying in the stands against Dundee on Sunday after beating Leipzig,” Bridge said.

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

Celtic have been impressive this season in the SPFL, after last season’s disaster campaign where they fell short of their rivals Rangers by 25 points, and they come away with the double after winning the Scottish Cup earlier on in the season.

However, in Europe they have been poor after getting knocked out of the Champions League in the qualifying rounds, then the Europa League, and then the Conference League, and this is something that may be hurtful for the Hoops fans.

Postecoglou may look to bounce back next season by investing heavily in the squad in the summer, which will hopefully mean they can challenge in the Champions League and make it out of the group stages. Two signings that could be the first to make would be both Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota.
