Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Giovanni van Bronckhorst may ask the board to spend big if they do not win silverware this season.

Rangers fell short in the Europa League final on Thursday night when they devastatingly lost on penalties against Frankfurt. But Van Bronckhorst’s side has one more chance to win silverware this season when they face Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final tomorrow afternoon.

The Gers fell short in the Scottish Premiership when they ended up finishing four points behind fierce rivals Celtic, meaning that they were unable to build on their unbeaten campaign last term.

With Rangers potentially ending the season with no silverware, O’Rourke has claimed to GiveMeSport that Van Bronckhorst will be expected to make a haul of changes in the summer.

“If they do end up not winning anything this year, I think van Bronckhorst will be asking for the club to dig deep in their pockets to give him the money to change the squad around,” O’Rourke said.

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

Rangers have failed to continue the form this season to what they achieved last term under Steven Gerrard when he went to whole season unbeaten and won the league by 25 points so the Rangers faithful may not be best pleased with their failure in the league this term.

However, they had great success in Europe after they got to the Europa League final against Frankfurt, but they still could finish the season without any trophies which would mean the campaign would certainly be deemed as an unsuccessful one.

Van Bronckhorst has only had one transfer window to bring the players he wants in the door at Ibrox, so it is expected that there will be plenty of changes both in and out during the summer window, especially if The Gers do not win any trophies.
