talkSPORT commentator Sam Matterface has had his say on the race for the Europa League heading into the final day.

West Ham travel to take on high-flying Brighton looking to pip Manchester United to sixth in the Premier League table with the Reds heading to face Crystal Palace.

David Moyes is hoping to secure Europa League football for the second successive season after a memorable campaign on the continent for the Hammers but they currently sit two points United.

Will West Ham qualify for the Europa League?

No

No

If the Old Trafford outfit fail to win and the Irons secure all three points at the Amex then they will finish in sixth place but that will be no easy task considering the form the Seagulls have been on.

They have lost just one of their last eight fixtures and their most recent home fixture saw them dismantle United of all sides 4-0 but Matterface is still confident that Moyes’ men can get the job done.

Speaking on the talkSPORT Gameday podcast he said:

(52:55) “I think West Ham are going to win and I don’t think Manchester United are and I think West Ham are going to take sixth place. There you go there’s my bold prediction for the weekend.”

TIF Thoughts on West Ham…

It was certainly an assertive statement from one of the sport’s leading voices but the London Stadim club are going to have to do something which they haven’t managed in the Premier League and that is win away at Albion.

However, Brighton did lose four straight fixtures on their home patch between February and March so perhaps that will offer Moyes’ charges some hope.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have lost five successive away league games and have failed to score in three of their last four which means that if West Ham can get the three points the rest may very well look after itself.
