Presenter ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United scouted striker Dion Drena Beljo, but are unlikely to sign him.

As the transfer market fast approaches now the Premier League season has come to an end, the Hammers will likely be doing their due diligence as they weigh up making a move for a number of players this summer.

With that seemingly in mind, club coach Steve Potts was recently sent to Croatia to watch 20-year-old Beljo, who currently plays for Osijek, but has spent the season on loan with Istra 1961.

Speaking about the player on The West Ham Way Patreon page, Ex suggested that despite the club’s interest, the player isn’t quite ready to make a move to the Hammers just yet.

He explained: “Steve Potts went to Croatia to watch Dion Drena Beljo, a 6 foot 5 forward, but decided he wasn’t good enough at this stage.”

TIF Thoughts on Dion Drena Beljo and West Ham…

West Ham’s need for a striker is pretty evident. Indeed, their only senior centre-forward option who naturally plays that role is Michail Antonio.

No doubt, the club will be looking out for a new signing in the summer – just as this latest update suggests. However, it seems as though Beljo is not quite of the requisite quality.

West Ham United fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with Felipe Anderson

With 19 goals and four assists across all competitions this season, you can see why he has drawn the attention of Potts and co from afar, but he clearly didn’t impress enough in person.

Still, at just 20 years of age, perhaps this will be a deal to come back to in the future if his career continues on an upward trajectory.
