Insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United manager David Moyes is keen on midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

It looks as though the Hammers may well be looking to upgrade their options in the middle of the park next season. Mark Noble has retired, so he will need to be replaced, while it looks as though Tomas Soucek could also be on his way out of the club.

And if Moyes is really aiming for a reshuffle, he might end up pushing the board to make a move for Phillips in the coming months.

Writing on The West Ham Way Patreon page, Ex stated that the club manager is a big fan of the Leeds United ace, while he also mentioned a few other names, including James Ward-Prowse – who has been linked in the recent past.

He said: “The manager is also said to fancy Kalvin Phillips of Leeds and John McGinn of Aston Villa as targets. The chances of signing all 3 are next to nothing, even the signing of one is far from certain, but all 3 will be spoken about by us and other clubs.”

TIF Thoughts on Kalvin Phillips and West Ham…

While Moyes may ‘fancy’ a move for the Leeds star, he is certainly not the only one who appreciates the player. Indeed, The Telegraph has recently reported that Manchester City are also keen on Phillips.

If that is the case, West Ham may find it somewhat difficult to try and compete with the pull of the Premier League champions.

Even so, it certainly looks as though midfield is an area Moyes wants to strengthen this summer, as evidenced by the additional links to Ward-Prowse and McGinn. It’s not yet clear who the club will go for but if City turn their interest elsewhere, Phillips may well be that man.
