Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that Ryan Fredericks will likely leave West Ham United this summer.

The right-back’s current contract is set to expire in the summer having signed a four-year deal back in 2018 when he arrived on a free transfer from Fulham.

With just seven Premier League appearances to his name this term, it seems as though he is hardly central to David Moyes’ plans and so the club look set to let him depart this summer without renewing his terms.

Should West Ham keep Fredericks for next season?

Speaking about the player on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex stated that the Irons are still to make a final call on things, as they have an option to trigger a one-year extension – but he expects the player to go, nevertheless.

He said: “In terms of Fredericks, he has an option for one more year to stay at West Ham.

“I think the club are currently weighing up what to do. I was told that the chances are is that he will leave.”

West Ham United fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with Felipe Anderson

When Fredericks left Fulham, part of the reason was because the club reportedly refused to make him their highest-paid player. With that in mind, the defender is probably on a pretty decent wage with the Hammers – having been tempted to sign with them instead back in 2018.

Declan Rice’s best friend has played only 303 minutes of league football this season – finding himself behind Vladimir Coufal and Ben Johnson in the pecking order at right-back. So it wouldn’t make a lot of sense for Moyes to extend Fredericks’ time at the club – especially when he is already on a notable wage.

As Ex makes clear, the final decision has not quite been made yet. Still, taking it all into account, it looks as though the 29-year-old will probably have to find himself a new club in the near future.
