Presenter Dan Lawless has slammed West Ham United for the cost of some official merchandise relating to Mark Noble.

Over the weekend, the club captain made his final home appearance for the Hammers in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City. Indeed, the 35-year-old will retire at the end of the season and so will never play at the London Stadium again.

Understandably trying to make the most of the situation, the club has launched a new fashion range where fans can buy clothing with ‘MN16’ – a reference to the departing captain – embroidered on it.

However, in the eyes of Lawless, this merchandise is way overpriced. After the club posted about the upcoming range, the West Ham Fan TV man took to Twitter to write: “£75 for a hoodie & £55 for a polo where they have just stuck a tiny MN16 badge on the breast.

“I love Nobes but unfortunately I don’t have more money than sense.”

TIF Thoughts on Mark Noble and West Ham…

Noble is clearly an icon for the club, having played over 500 games in claret and blue. So it’s no wonder that Lawless says he loves the man.

Do you think the MN16 collection is overpriced?

With that in mind, it shows just how overpriced these clothes must be for the presenter to be left so gobsmacked. The cheapest item available seems to be a simple T-shirt with the MN16 badge on the breast and that costs £50 – prices only go up from there.

Of course, Noble would have played no part in the pricing of these items and so it won’t tarnish his legacy in any way, but the club’s attempts to monetise the emotional connection West Ham fans have with their departing captain will no doubt leave a sour taste in the mouths of many – just as it has done for Lawless.
