Presenter ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United defender Ben Johnson should be fit for the club’s next game.

Over the weekend, the right-back was left out of the squad completely in the Premier League as the Hammers succumbed to a defeat against Arsenal.

However, he had played the full 90 minutes earlier on in the week in the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt as the side lost 2-1.

Will Ben Johnson start against Frankfurt this week?

According to Ex, a slight thigh strain kept him from featuring against the Gunners, but the good news is that Johnson should be fit for the second leg against the German outfit in Europe this week.

He explained on The West Ham Way Patreon page: “Although we haven’t received official confirmation or from more than one source, we believe that Ben Johnson has a slight thigh strain but should be available for Thursday.”

TIF Thoughts on Ben Johnson and West Ham…

As Johnson has been regularly called upon both domestically and in Europe this season, David Moyes will certainly hope to have the young full-back available to him on Thursday.

Fortunately, though, if he can’t quite prove his fitness, the Hammers do have options. Indeed, in the game against Arsenal, Vladimir Coufal and Ryan Fredericks both started – and it is handy to have them healthy as they can both play at right-back, too.

Even so, as Ex’s update is a positive one, there should be no need to call upon all three options for the game against Frankfurt. However, Moyes will have to get his team selection spot-on if the Irons are to overcome the deficit and progress into the competition’s final.
