Insider ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United have held talks with Nayef Aguerd, and the club are now ‘confident’ of pulling off a deal.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Hammers have a real interest in signing the 26-year-old, and it seems as though that information was pretty accurate.

Indeed, in a recent post on The West Ham Way Patreon page, Ex wrote that West Ham, Aguerd and his club Rennes had all been in conversation as the deal progressed.

Following this, the latest update from the insider now states that the deal is looking likely – although he warned nothing is official yet as things can change so swiftly within the world of football.

He wrote: “Talks with Nayef Aguerd and Rennes have progressed well and I have been told that the club are confident of signing him. Anything can happen and it is important that people understand that things can change, as they often do.

“In the case of Aguerd, he fits Moyes’ height requirements, as well as having pace and good ball distribution. Rennes also have other options that we have looked at, too.”

TIF Thoughts on Nayef Aguerd and West Ham…

As West Ham had some pretty serious injury concerns at centre-back last season – with the likes of Issa Diop, Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna all forced out of action at one point – it is no surprise to see David Moyes aiming to strengthen that position already.

West Ham United fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with Felipe Anderson

In Aguerd, they may well have found a target who is just coming into his prime. Indeed, at 26 years of age, the Moroccan is a proven international and a key player for Rennes at domestic and European level – playing 40 times in all competitions this season.

Ex claims the player is fast, good on the ball and tall, so this is likely to make him a pretty enticing prospect. With all that in mind, it looks as though West Ham could have a real player on their hands if they can just get this deal across the line.
