Journalist Pete O’Rourke has revealed that West Ham are in pole position to land Hull City’s rising star Keane Lewis-Potter when the transfer window opens this summer.

Last month, speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, ExWHUemployee said David Moyes was at a recent Championship game between Hull and Millwall to get a closer look at the Tigers’ youngster.

The 21-year-old, valued at £900k is predominantly deployed on the left-wing and has become a mainstay in the Hull City side this season appearing 47 times and scoring twelve goals while also providing four assists.

According to the Daily Mail, the Hammers are interested in raiding the same club from which they signed Jarrod Bowen but a recent report from The Athletic suggested that Brentford are also interested in the one-cap England under-21 international and had a bid rising to £8million turned down last summer, with Hull holding out for a fee in the region of £18million.

However, O’Rourke believes the Irons are leading the race with the prospect out of contract at the end of next season.

He told GIVEMESPORT:

“David Moyes, as we know, does like to sign British players and they have enjoyed success signing players from Championship clubs as well.

“That might encourage West Ham to continue this pursuit of Lewis-Potter and I think they probably, right now, are looking favourites to sign him.

“But I think there will be a lot of interest in Lewis-Potter this summer.”

TIF Thoughts on Lewis-Potter to West Ham…

Interestingly, Richard Smallwood has stated that he feels Lewis-Potter can go to the ‘next level’ having witnessed what he can do in the flesh at Hull City.

This particular route of transfer has proved rewarding for Rush Green officials in the past with Bowen starring since joining and he is the club’s top scorer this season with 16 goals.

Lewis-Potter’s current manager Shota Arveladze dubbed him a “special talent” and compared him to Marc Overmars and it is clear that Moyes sees similar potential.

It’s a tried and trusted method for the Scot and he could be set to another exciting forward, in the mould of Bowen, to his ranks.
