Toby Cudworth has claimed on the Talking Transfers podcast that West Ham United’s David Sullivan would accept £30m less than Declan Rice’s price tag for the midfielder’s services this summer.

After failing to secure Champions League or Europa League football for next season, Rice’s future appears to be very much up in the air, especially after the midfielder rejected yet another contract from West Ham which would’ve seen him tied down for a further eight years.

Is Declan Rice worth £150 million?

Yes!

No!

Rice has a lot of potential suitors, with Manchester United and Manchester City said to hold an interest in the midfielder, but with a reported £150m valuation, it looks difficult to see him leaving the Hammers this summer unless Sullivan and the West Ham board lower their asking price – which Cudworth believes they could do.

He said: “Declan Rice’s ambition is clear: he wants to win trophies and he knows that he’s good enough to play at the top of the game. West Ham obviously don’t want to sell him. They have a public valuation of £150m.

“We understand that if an offer was to come in around £120m, that would probably turn David Sullivan’s head enough for him to accept.”

How well do you know where West Ham's signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! First up, where did Fabian Balbuena come in from?

As long as West Ham aren’t qualifying for Europe or winning silverware, Rice’s desire to leave the club will likely only increase, as he’s an England international and already a captain for the Hammers at just 23 years old, so clearly has a lot of potential.

The Hammers are still in a good position, though, as Rice has a contract running until the summer of 2024, with the club also holding an option to extend his deal by a further year, so there would appear to be no need to accept any offers this summer, although a crazy amount of money between £120-150m would surely tempt people within the club.
