Journalist Dean Jones spoke with This Is Futbol and claimed that West Ham would still do business with Manchester United if the price was right.

Jesse Lingard was on the radar of West Ham again in January, but Manchester United reportedly rejected an offer for him from the Hammers. Lingard has made 16 appearances for United in the Premier League this season but just two of those have been from the start.

Declan Rice has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window, but David Moyes has claimed that the fee would have to exceed the £100 million mark.

Do you think Rice will leave West Ham in the summer?

Despite United rejecting an offer for Lingard from the Hammers in January, Dean Jones This is Futbol that he thinks this will not affect whether West ham are open to doing business with the Red Devils in the summer.

“I don’t think West Ham could really think about that. I mean, Lingard was halfway through a season as well. I think that it’s ultimately if someone’s going to pay the money, they pay the money and West Ham can’t worry about whether they’re competing with them for a European sport,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’s comments…

Interestingly, it has been claimed that West Ham won’t sell Declan Rice at all, but it now seems as if Dean Jones thinks that there is the possibility for someone to pay the money, regardless of whether it’s a rival like Man United.

Declan Rice has been a stand out performer for West Ham United this season, in the Premier League he has the highest average player rating at the club (7.17), the most amount of accurate passes on average per game (53.9) and he has the most amount of interceptions on average per game (1.7), as per Sofascore.

The English midfielder has been key for the Hammers over the last few seasons, so he would be a huge miss for David Moyes if he was to exit in the summer.  However, if West Ham do receive a significant figure for him, then they could use that money to invest in the rest of the squad, so GSB have a big call to make.
