Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Josh Brownhill is definitely someone on West Ham United’s shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

West Ham have been linked with Burnley midfielder Josh Brownhill ahead of the summer transfer window, but they are set to face competition for his signature from fellow Premier League clubs such as Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Brownhill signed for Burnley from Bristol City in 2020 and he has been a constant in the side since, he has featured 81 times in all competitions in the two and a half seasons that he has been at Turf Moor.

With the potential transfer to West Ham for Brownhill, Jones highlighted to GiveMeSport that David Moyes is a big admirer of his and will be on his list ahead of the summer.

“He definitely is on Moyes’ list. Moyes is a big admirer of him. You’ve got to consider every asset of the game, and its technical ability, but also willingness to work and carry out instructions, and Josh Brownhill could actually slot really nicely into that West Ham midfield,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’s comments…

Brownhill has been a standout performer for Burnley this season, in the Premier League he has the second-highest amount of goal contributions at the club (5), he has the second-highest amount of accurate passes per game (25.3) and he has the second-highest amount of interceptions on average per game (1.9), as per Sofascore.

With the heavy links of a move away from West Ham for Declan Rice, Moyes may need to act fast and bring in another midfielder who has proven himself in the top flight, so Brownhill may be a suitable replacement for him.

If Burnley do get relegated, then Brownhill will be on of the players expected to leave the club and remain in the Premier League, so this will increase the chances of signing him for the Hammers.
