Tottenham Hotspur gained a valuable point at Anfield on Saturday night as they look to usurp their rivals and take fourth spot.

After a goalless first half, Spurs took the lead thanks to a strike from the golden boot chasing Heung-Min Son. However, they couldn’t hold on to the three points as Luis Diaz was on hand to equalise for the Reds via a deflected strike to salvage a point for his side.

Will Spurs finish in the top four?

Although a point at Anfield is a good result with the Reds yet to lose there this season in the league, Spurs fans will be annoyed as Fabinho could have seen red.

On Twitter, Last Word on Spurs (originated from Sky Sports) shared four screenshots of a coming together between Fabinho and Son, with the Brazilian catching Son high with his elbow.

TIF thoughts on the incident…

Looking at the images, Spurs fans will be fuming that the Liverpool midfielder didn’t see red as the elbow/forearm does clearly strike Son in the face/neck area and it left him in discomfort for some time.

Television personality Adam Richman even shared footage of the challenge, hinting that it should’ve been looked at.

Fabinho had already put in a couple of challenges without receiving a yellow card, with Harry Kane even mentioning to the referee that it had been three fouls without a card when he was hauled down.

However, not to say that this is right, but these types of challenges haven’t really been punished in the Premier League up until this point as Kai Havertz and Sadio Mane both got away with similar challenges involving their elbows/forearms earlier on this season.

And, although a different situation, Kulusevski was only given a yellow card for his elbow against Brighton.
