Journalist Michael Bridge has claimed that Antonio Conte will be backed in the upcoming transfer window at Spurs by being given the right tools.

Conte returned to the Premier League in November when he was appointed as Spurs manager, and he managed to lead them to fourth place in the table, which means that Champions League will return to the club next term.

The Italian boss brought in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, who both had positive impacts at the club amid their arrivals. The Uruguayan managed to notch 17 appearances whilst assisting four times, whilst the Swede managed to score five goals and assist eight times.

And with the recent news that ENIC has agreed to inject £150m into the club, Bridge has claimed to GiveMeSport that Conte will be given the tools to improve the club.

Bridge said: “He wants assurances, but speaking to a couple of people yesterday [Tuesday] and there were another couple of Spurs journalists who have had similar conversations with people at Tottenham, they’re all in complete agreement that Conte will be given the tools to push the club on.

“So, unless Daniel Levy gets into this room and says, ‘well you don’t need an awful lot, because you’ve got fourth with what you’ve got,’ but I don’t think that will happen.”

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

With the impressive stats that Conte’s January signings have produced – especially Kulusevski, who ended up with the fourth-highest average player rating at the club in the Premier League – the board will see this and likely opt to back the manager further due to the trust that the Italian coach has earned.

Now that the recent injection of money has been confirmed ahead of the summer window, Conte will have more funds at his disposal, and mixed with them qualifying for the Champions League, this could mean that Spurs are set for a busy transfer window in terms of bringing in top talent through the door.
