Tottenham Hotspur are expected to bring two new wing-backs to north London in this summer’s transfer window.
This has been suggested by Sky Sports reporter and Spurs fan Michael Bridge who was speaking on Matt Hayes’ latest YouTube video.
There is a lot of speculation over how many new faces are expected to come through the doors at Hotspur Way this summer but Bridge believes an emphasis will be put on the wing-back spots.
One player who has been linked with a possible move to N17 is the Eintracht Frankfurt left wing-back Filip Kostic who will reportedly be subject to a £25m swoop from Spurs.
Which spot is needing upgrade more?
Left wing-back
Right wing-back
With the Serbian believed to be one of the main options to address the left side of the defence, Bridge expects right wing-back to also be addressed this summer:
“Tottenham could be a real force in that formation if we improve those wing-backs, I really do [think that]. Wing-backs are so important under Conte’s system.
“So, I’d expect to have two new wing-backs at the start of the season. Or at least by the end of the deadline.”
TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…
We absolutely feel both sides of the defence need addressing with neither the left or right wing-backs really providing much in an attacking sense.
Emerson Royal and Sergio Reguilon have failed to impress under Antonio Conte whilst Matt Doherty and Ryan Sessegnon have shown some signs of improvement.
However, reports have been linking Spurs with less experienced options on the right side with the likes of Djed Spence and Alex Scott which may suggest the experienced Doherty may be in Conte’s plans with mixed signals over Emerson.
