Tottenham Hotspur ensured they will be playing Champions League football from next season as they steamrolled past already relegated Norwich City on the final day of the Premier League season.

There was never really any doubt in the result as Dejan Kulusevski and Harry Kane gave Antonio Conte’s side a 2-0 lead at the break. The second half was much of the same for Spurs when the Swede bagged his second before Heung-Min Son got a brace of his own to complete the scoring.

Although the goalscorers will get the majority of the headlines and plaudits, Alasdair Gold picked out Rodrigo Bentancur in his match ratings for praise.

The journalist gave him 9/10, justifying it with: “Broke into the Norwich box from deep in the 16th minute in and drew the keeper out before passing to Kulusevski to score. Grabbed a second assist just after the half-hour mark, intercepting Krul’s poor kick with a first time cross to Kane to head home. Came off with a knock in the second half but he was superb on the day.”

TIF thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s ratings…

Bentancur was key to Spurs’ victory today, grabbing two assists and having 81 touches of the football in a dominant performance from the Uruguayan in the middle of the park. He only lost possession three times during the game, proving to be a reliable outlet for his teammates.
