Lautaro Martinez is still on the Tottenham Hotspur transfer list for this summer’s window, according to Alasdair Gold.

The Spurs correspondent was speaking on his YouTube channel to discuss the options identified to add to Tottenham’s squad over the window.

It is believed a striker is high on Conte’s wishlist this summer, and this may have taken a boost in recent days, with a £150m injection of cash into the club from ENIC.

With financial issues to iron out, it is believed Inter do not view their striker as untouchable this summer amid the previous reports linking him with a move away.

And Gold believes that amongst other strikers such as Darwin Nunez and Victor Osimhen, Spurs still have an eye on the £63m-rated star going into the summer window, after an impressive campaign which has seen the Argentinian net 21 goals in Serie A.

He said: “Of course, Conte and Paratici both like Lautaro Martinez, who Spurs had a little attempt at getting last summer, but he signed a new long-term deal, didn’t he, this season.

“I think the problem with all of those targets – and I know these players that are on their kind of list, like the top of their shortlist – they’re all big-money signings.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Interestingly, former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed earlier this year that the Martinez is the type of player who could take the Lilywhites to the ‘next level’.

We are interested to see what path Spurs go down this summer when looking to address their depth up top, with the likes of Martinez not expected to come cheap.

Spurs were linked with the striker last summer with a reported bid made in the region of £60m, but the Argentinian has since put pen to paper on a new deal.

Conte has been able to get the best out of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski in recent months, so it is hard to imagine him looking to change this up for next season.

But Tottenham do need a serious backup for Kane with so many games coming up next season, however, the calibre of striker Spurs will be able to land this summer remains to be seen considering the strength of those already at their disposal.
