Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been a solid performer for Tottenham Hotspur this season, but he has been linked with a move away from the club in the summer.
Newcastle United have a newfound wealth, meaning they have been linked with a haul of players, and Tottenham’s Hojbjerg is the latest to be rumoured to be on the radar of the Magpies, with the Northern club hatching a plan.
The Danish midfielder signed for Spurs in 2020 from fellow Premier League side Southampton, and he has been a mainstay in the side since, featuring 97 times in all competitions, whilst scoring five times and registering nine assists.
With the potential move away from Tottenham Way for the 26-year-old midfielder, we noted two knock-on effects if he was to depart from Spurs in the summer.
Conte will be worried
Hojbjerg has been a constant in the Spurs side this season, he has missed just two games in the league this season, and he has been one of the standout performers.
The Danish international has the highest amount of accurate passes on average per game for his side (62.6), he makes the second most amount of tackles on average per game (2.3) and he makes the second most amount of interceptions on average per game (1.3), as per Sofascore.
With Spurs on the brink of qualifying for the Champions League, it would be a huge loss for Antonio Conte if he was to lose such a dominant player on the pitch in terms of stats, and he may have to spend big to find a suitable replacement.
Kane may be having second thoughts
Harry Kane was heavily linked with a move away from Spurs ahead of the summer, with Manchester United being the main club concerned in his signature. However, with Spurs having the chance to qualify for the Champions League and Manchester United slipping down the table, it looked as if he would stay.

With the reports of an exit for Hojbjerg from the club, this may give Kane more of a reason to leave in the summer. There have been issues in the past that Spurs could be seen to have lacked ambition, by selling their key players and not investing the funds back in the squad, which was something Kane raised as an issue.
So, selling Hojbjerg could maybe turn the England skipper’s head with arguably a key player possibly being sold.
