Journalist Rob Guest has mooted Tottenham Hotspur to make a possible move this summer for attacker Memphis Depay.

In an article for football.london, the writer explained that a new striker should be a ‘transfer priority’ for Fabio Paratici and Tottenham this summer.

He explained that this is due to questions remaining over Harry Kane’s future, but also because the club ought to have an alternative option to the England captain regardless.

With that in mind, he tipped the Barcelona man as an option because he has recently slipped down the pecking order in Spain, and would also suit Spurs as he can play centrally or on the wing.

“Linked with Tottenham in the past, the striker has demonstrated this campaign that he knows where the back of the net is after registering 11 goals in 24 La Liga games. Also an option to play on the left flank as well as through the middle, his versatility would certainly benefit Tottenham.

TIF thoughts on Memphis Depay and Spurs…

According to Spanish media, Spurs are currently ‘topping the list of the English clubs that are interested in signing him, though the like of AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli have the player in their sights too.

Despite having 12 goals and two assists to his name this season, it seems as though Xavi isn’t too keen on the player right now as he has limited his involvement in recent weeks.

How well do you know where these Spurs signings came from? Take our quiz to find out! Firstly, where did Dimitar Berbatov arrive from?

The arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal in the winter – who has already scored nine La Liga goals in just 13 games – certainly seems to have forced Depay out of the limelight in recent weeks

As Guest mentions, this could open up the door for a move to Tottenham in the summer. It will certainly be interesting to see how it all plays out.
