Journalist Alasdair Gold has dubbed Dejan Kulusevski to start against Liverpool tonight in the crucial Premier League clash.

Dejan Kulusevski was brought into the Premier League for Tottenham by Antonio Conte on an 18-month-loan deal, and Spurs have the option to buy him at the end of the deal. The Swede has been excellent since his move, he has scored three goals and registered eight assists for the North London side.

Lucas Moura started the previous game for Spurs at the expense of Kulusevski, but it is likely that the Swedish international will be brought back into the side this evening.

With Lucas failing to have an impact last time out for Spurs, Alasdair Gold highlighted that Kulusevski is expected to replace the Brazilian at Anfield:

“Conte is likely to bring Dejan Kulusevski back into the starting line-up at the expense of Lucas Moura in order to hand Liverpool more problems. The Spurs boss attempted to freshen up the attack against Leicester last weekend but Lucas struggled to make an impact,” Gold said.

TIF Thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s comments…

Spurs were starting to become reliant on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, but Kulusevski has taken some of the weight off their shoulders. In the Premier League for Spurs, he has the third-highest average player rating (7.25), the joint-most number of assists (8) and he makes the second most amount of key passes on average per game (1.6), as per Sofascore.

With Tottenham currently fighting for the top four with rivals Arsenal, they sit two points behind the Gunners, so tonight’s game against Liverpool might be a huge deciding factor for the top four and Kulusevski may play a key role for Conte.
