A number of Nottingham Forest fans are going to really enjoy watching footage of Steve Cook celebrating the club’s promotion.

Next season, Steve Cooper’s men will be a Premier League club after they edged past Huddersfield Town in the Championship play-off final.

Indeed, Levi Colwill’s own goal – which came from a James Garner cross – was all that was needed to decide the game, with Forest winning 1-0.

However, the winning side needed a little help from referee Jon Moss and the VAR officials to avoid conceding one or two big penalty shouts.

Making reference to this during the team’s victory parade, Cook said: “We’ll thank Jon Moss, what a f***ing guy, we love VAR!”

The video was shared on Twitter by NottinghamForestLive and it will no doubt be loved by many of the club’s supporters.

TIF Thoughts on Steve Cook and Nottingham Forest…

Considering Forest have not played in the Premier League since 1999, fans would have been desperate to win this match, regardless of how it played out.

In the end, as Cook’s comments make clear, it took a pretty big slice of luck to see them come through the game without conceding a penalty.

Having joined in January from Bournemouth, the veteran defender had a major role in the club’s promotion, playing every minute of the play-offs (via Transfermarkt). His willingness to outright thank the officials from the final shows a sense of humour that Forest fans will revel in today.
