Pundit Neil Warnock has claimed that Allan Saint-Maximin could be ready to leave Newcastle United after his recent drop-off in form.

Allan Saint-Maximin has been linked with a move away from Newcastle United ahead of the summer transfer window, with Premier League clubs such as Wolves and Everton reportedly showing interest in his services.

The French winger was brought into St James’s Park from OGC Nice in 2019 and has been a constant in the Magpies side since, he has made 90 appearances in all competitions whilst scoring 12 goals and registering 15 assists.

With the reports of a move away from Newcastle in the summer, Neil Warnock spoke to talkSPORT via HITC and claimed that he can see the French winger leaving the club due to issues away from the pitch.

“I think there’s more that’s gone on behind the scenes. They’re obviously talking about selling him now whereas, at the start of the season, he would’ve been the first one on the team-sheet,” Warnock said.

TIF Thoughts on Neil Warnock’s comments…

Allan Saint-Maximin has experienced a slight drop-off in form recently and has only registered one goal and assist this calendar year. But he is still dominating the stats for his side in the Premier League, he has the most goal contributions (9), he has created the most big chances (5) and he has the most successful dribbles on average per game (4.3), as per Sofascore.

If Newcastle were to let the French winger leave in the summer, then Eddie Howe would have to spend big to find an adequate replacement, because his impressive stats this season would be hugely missed next term.

However, if there are issues behind the scenes, then it may be best to let him go, and then use the projected significant fee for him to invest in the rest of the squad, rather than keeping him at the club if he is causing upset in the changing room.
