Newcastle United hero Robbie Elliott has praised the atmosphere inside St James’ Park during their recent Premier League victory.

The Magpies rocked St James’ Park, with the atmosphere being a factor behind Arsenal failing to win on Tyneside, according to TalkSport’s Darren Bent, who claimed the Gunners were intimidated and that the noise got to them against both the Magpies and Spurs.

While the match had very little relevance in terms of Newcastle’s season, it was a statement win and their last at home for the season as Arsenal became the first top-six side to lose at the hands of Eddie Howe’s men this term.

The victory was taken in by famous faces including Ant and Dec, but it was former Newcastle ace Elliott that tweeted: “Atmosphere off the charts. Exciting times.”

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

It certainly was a special night on Tyneside as fan group Wor Flags put on their biggest ever display, with each seat having a flag or piece of foil to wave high in the sky, which led to some stunning footage emerging out of St James’ Park.

The Magpies have had to endure more than a decade of dross and disappointment under Mike Ashley, but now with new owners and a manager providing the fans with a team that emulates their passion from the terraces, next season could well be an exciting one on Tyneside, with dreams and aims of European football likely on the cards with some good recruitment and the atmosphere from Monday night being replicated.
