George Caulkin has been speaking on Pod on the Tyne about the visit Wor Flags made to Newcastle United’s training ground.

Wor Flags, a fan group made up of volunteers, have put on some stunning displays at St James’ Park, but the one they masterminded on Monday evening for Newcastle’s final home game of the season was stunning in every stand.

After all the work they’ve done since PIF bought the club, all the volunteers at Wor Flags were invited to Darsley Park to meet the Newcastle players during a training session and spoke about the displays they’ve done and why they do so much work for free.

Caulkin has revealed that the players loved meeting and chatting with the Wor Flags group.

He said: “They went along to the training ground last week.

“They met the first team and they told their story to the first team, they explained what they’re doing and why and how they do it, and the players loved that.”

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

The group did, in fact, walk away from St James’ Park and creating displays at one point because of the discontent between fans, Mike Ashley and former manager Steve Bruce, but since the takeover passed through, they’ve been back and better than ever.

On Monday night, Wor Flags managed to get the majority of fans into the stadium earlier than usual to help create a special atmosphere that was maintained throughout the game – something Darren Bent commented on while speaking on TalkSport, and that is something which will help Newcastle make St James’ Park a fortress moving forward.
