Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves recently revealed his excitement on Twitter over the news that Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has moved his family up to Newcastle in order to try and make the England World Cup squad.

The Newcastle man has enjoyed a good season under new manager Eddie Howe, barring his injury set back Wilson has looked great for the Magpies and if he had managed to stay on the pitch there is no telling what he could have achieved in front of goal.

In a season where things have not been good for English strikers not named Harry Kane, as Patrick Bamford barely made the pitch, Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggled with fitness, and Ollie Watkins failed to make a huge impact at Aston Villa, there is ample opportunity for a player like Wilson to impose on the England international set up and put himself in the driving seat for a backup spot on the plane to Qatar come to the end of the year.

Wilson has seen this opportunity and in recent news, he has decided to move his family up to Newcastle in order to cut out travelling times and instead focus on his football in order to put himself in contention for the England World Cup squad contention.

Sky Sports pundit Graves was especially excited about the news and took to Twitter to declare his feelings about Wilson’s chance to start for England. He wrote, “Love this. Without doubt @CallumWilson should be in Southgate’s plans. Natural goalscorer”.

TIF Thoughts on Wilson’s chances to go to Qatar…

Wilson has been one of the more impressive English strikers over the last few years and it should be about the time he got the call up to the national team, especially seeing as the current crop of players outside of Kane have been disappointing this season.

The former Bournemouth man has scored eight goals in his 18 Premier League games this past season, making it 20 in 46 games for his entire Newcastle career. He initially impressed at the south coast team, picking up 67 goals and 30 assists in 187 Premier League appearances. (Transfermarkt)

Wilson is a great player and if he can start next season in good form and bag himself a number of goals before November there is no reason why he should not be at least considered for a spot on the England World Cup plane.
