Newcastle United part-owner Amanda Staveley was spotted with tears in her eyes after their final home game of the 2021/22 campaign on Monday.
It was clearly an emotional night for Staveley as she watched her side dismantle Arsenal and all but end their hopes of a spot in the top four.
Have you been impressed by PIF?
Yes
No
An own goal from Arsenal’s Ben White and a late strike from Bruno Guimaraes sealed the points for the Toon in what was a dominant performance from Eddie Howe’s men.
The Toon now go into their final game of the campaign against Burnley with a spot in the top half of the table still very much a possibility.
And given she has spoken publicly of her big ambitions for the club, perhaps it was not so surprising when journalist Jordan Cronin spotted an emotional Staveley after the game:
Cronin tweeted: “Can spot a few tears in Amanda Staveley’s eyes as she embraces every single NUFC player at full-time!”
TIF Thoughts on Cronin’s comments…
We are sure Newcastle fans will be delighted to hear Cronin’s comments after the game given the tears are presumably ones of happiness.
It was a stunning display from Howe’s side on a night when the home crowd were in fine voice to rally their troops – it really did feel like the perfect night on Tyneside.
And given the struggles PIF went through in trying to secure their deal for the Toon, it will definitely be nights like Monday night when it feels worth the hassle.
