Newcastle United will be busy in the summer transfer window, looking to build on the successful end to the season by adding more new faces, but they will have to start clearing out some of the squad that had them in that situation anyway and who won’t be part of the long-term project for Eddie Howe at St James’ Park.

While the fans will certainly be excited to see who the incomings will be this summer after the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier joined in January, the outgoings will be just as important to the funds available and Howe’s plans.

Jordan Cronin has been looking at the outgoings (featured on Loaded HQ podcast), claiming: “Since Liam didn’t write the list of potential departures, I will… Yes, the most obvious are Freddie Woodman, Ciaran Clark, Federico Fernandez, Jeff Hendrick, Isaac Hayden and Dwight Gayle. I wouldn’t rule out others departing however – Miguel Almiron for example, i.e. a player you might not expect to go.””

Should NUFC sell Almiron this summer?

Almiron played 32 times for the Magpies last season, showing himself to be a key member of the squad, racking up a decent number of appearances. However, he only scored the one goal and didn’t assist any. That’s not good enough for an attacking player over the course of a season, so it might not be a shock if Howe decides to move him on.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

We don’t know what the future holds for Almiron, or for Newcastle’s transfer window, what we do know is it will likely be an exciting ride for the supporters this summer.
