Newcastle United would make a move for the England captain Harry Kane this summer if they felt it was a feasible transfer.

This is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who has been discussing the Tyneside club’s summer plans with GiveMeSport.

The Toon are believed to be looking for a new striker this summer, with Chris Wood failing to hit the ground running and Callum Wilson proving unreliable through injuries.

There are some rumours about where Kane’s future may lie with two years remaining on his deal at Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool are believed to have held talks over the possibility of going for the 28-year-old (via Daily Express).

And in what would be a sensational move this summer, Jones believes the Toon have the capability to land Kane from Tottenham Hotspur if they felt it was feasible.

He said: “Ultimately, this fanbase wants a new number 9 to worship. They have the money to go big – so if they thought it was feasible, they would go for Harry Kane this summer.

“There are big expectations, so let’s see if the club can meet them by landing a star name.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Interestingly, Alasdair Gold has stated that despite the England captain having just two years left on his contract, his price tag is ‘not any lower than it was last summer’ – with some reports claiming it was as high as £160m – and Spurs remain unwilling to sell.

It seems as if Kane has found some comfort in the plans currently in place at Spurs, with Antonio Conte at the helm and their owners injecting transfer funds into the club.

However, if Kane does not put pen to paper on a new deal this summer, this could certainly become a possibility this time next year, with Spurs potentially looking to sell the striker before his deal runs out.

The 28-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down, with Conte helping him get back to his best as he finished as the league’s fourth-highest goalscorer this season.

With reports suggesting Kane is likely to remain at Spurs, we will be interested to see how this next year pans out and whether that could see the Toon look to make a move.
