Manchester United are one to keep an eye on this summer when it comes to the future of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.

This is what Fabrizio Romano has said on the latest Here We Go podcast, with the Italian journalist looking at the future of the Uruguayan striker.

It is believed the Red Devils have a new striker as one of their main priorities for the summer window, having only had two players score double figures in the Premier League this season.

And according to Romano, Nunez is one of the options high on United’s radar, with the 22-year-old one of Europe’s hottest targets this summer.

A number of clubs are believed to be interested in bringing Nunez to the Premier League and United are expected to make their interest known.

Romano said: “He’s going to leave Benfica this summer, 100%. I see many rumours about him, but I’m told that he’s really tempted by [a] Premier League move. So the boy would love a Premier League move.

“This summer, again, let’s see what happens – many clubs interested. But Manchester United discussed his name internally many times at the club. And so I will keep the name of Darwin Nunez for Manchester United because he’s a player that for sure is on the list.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Would Nunez be your number one choice this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

We think this could be a brilliant move for the Red Devils to make, with the youngster proving a real threat across Europe this season.

Nunez, who has been described as a potential ‘game-changing’ signing by TalkSport reporter Alex Crook, has netted 26 goals in 28 league appearances for Benfica this term, but also caught the attention in the Champions League with six goals in 10 appearances (via Transfermarkt).

And with Cristiano Ronaldo still at the club, it would provide Nunez with the opportunity to continue his development under the wing of one of the greatest players to play the game.
