Alan McInally has been criticising Manchester United on The Group Chat for the way they have handled Jesse Lingard’s situation and exit from the club.

Lingard is set to leave Manchester United after spending in total 20 years with the Red Devils coming through every age group in their academy system and has also managed to rack up a very impressive 232 appearances while lifting four pieces of silverware.

Do you wish Lingard was staying?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, despite the service that Lingard has given to Man United, he was not even afforded a single minute during what will have been his last game at Old Trafford as a Red Devil, something his brother took offence to as he took to Instagram, and criticised the club for how he’s been treated by the club.

McInally has admitted that what’s happened with Lingard hasn’t gone down very well with him.

“Yeah, it hasn’t gone down well with me.”

“I don’t like the fact that he’s a local lad, he’s a Warrington boy, I think, and he’s been there since he was nine years old. I sat and watched the game the other night and they were bringing on Fred and all that who are probably going to be there next year and there was an opportunity [for Lingard], I thought and I think he knows he’s not wanted.”

Manchester United fans, do you remember how many points you picked up in seasons gone by? Let's find out, starting with 2020/21

It has been widely reported recently that Lingard has a lot of potential suitors ahead of becoming a free agent this summer with the likes of Newcastle United, Juventus and AC Milan all credited with holding an interest in the midfielder.

While all of those clubs would provide Lingard with a different lifestyle and an interesting project, it’s hard to believe that someone who grew up in Manchester United didn’t even get the slightest bit of a goodbye in his last home match.
