Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that it may take Manchester United two or three transfer windows to get the players they need.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Ralf Rangnick has claimed that Manchester United need up to 10 new players in the re-build of the squad, after a 4-0 thrashing in the Premier League against Liverpool.

United had a disappointing 2021/22 Premier League campaign, they managed to scrape Europa League qualification on the final day of the season after they relied on West Ham United losing to Brighton & Hove Albion. Rangnick’s side finished 13 points off a Champions League finish.

After Rangnick’s claims on how many players he feels United need, Jones spoke to GiveMeSport and said that it won’t happen in one transfer window and Erik ten Hag will need time to improve the squad.

“Ralf Rangnick has hinted that United believe they need up to ten new players but sources close to the situation expect that to happen over two or three transfer windows, rather than one,” Jones said.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’s comments…

Ten Hag was announced as Manchester United manager ahead of the 2022/23 season, and he is expected to make a haul of changes to the squad before the start of the season, due to the poor campaign that they had this term.

United managed to just about secure Europa League qualification, which will arguably help Ten Hag when recruiting as he can offer them European football, because if they did not have this, then the attraction of the club would have dropped significantly.

Ten Hag is a young manager who has had great success in the Dutch league with Ajax, but he may need time to settle in at United in the Premier League, and he will need a few transfer windows to get his players in the door to try and improve the situation at the club.
