Journalist Dean Jones says that Adama Traore could end up at Leeds United this summer.

The Wolves player is currently on loan at Barcelona until the end of the season and the Catalan giants have the option to make the move permanent for £29m in the upcoming transfer window.

However, he has made just eight starts since his switch to Spain, and according to TEAMtalk, Leeds are now set to rival Tottenham Hotspur, who were heavily linked in the winter, for his signature.

The report claims that the Yorkshire club have a long-standing interest in the 26-year-old, who cost Wolves a club-record fee of £18m when he moved to the West Midlands from Middlesbrough in 2018.

It is thought that the Whites will intensify their interest in the winger should fan favourite Raphinha leave the club this summer, and Jones told GiveMeSport that Traore is aware of the admiration from the club.

Jones said: “He knows they want him. I think he’s been open to it in the past.

“If there’s no future for him at Wolves, or Barcelona, then he will have to consider it.”

TIF Thoughts on Traore to Leeds…

You would imagine that Traore will only entertain Leeds’ offer if they manage to stave off relegation in the final week of the season.

With their current Brazilian star said to be forcing through a move to Barcelona, it is extremely likely that Jesse Marsch will need to be looking for potential replacements on the right wing.

Despite the extreme lack of end product with just eight goals and 16 assists in 160 Premier League appearances, there clearly is talent in Traore, as evidenced in the fact that he continues to be selected by Luis Enrique for the Spanish national team.

During the 2017/18 season, his final year at Boro, Traore lit up the Championship, scoring five goals and registering 10 assists in the same campaign where a certain Patrick Bamford scored 11 times, meaning a reunion with the Leeds’ talisman could yet revive the Spaniard’s form.

And Bruno Lage is a fan of the winger despite him leaving on loan to join Barcelona, as he described him as a ‘top player’.

He might be a step down from the levels that Raphinha has set at Elland Road, but for the right price and perhaps with more experience now aged 26, the £25.2m-rated ace could find himself dazzling in the English top flight with his frightening pace and power once again at Leeds.
