Injury expert and Sky Sports content provider Ben Dinnery has issued a positive update surrounding the fitness of Patrick Bamford in his latest YouTube video.

Bamford scored 17 goals and assisted a further eight as he played in all 38 of Leeds United’s Premier League games last season as the club finished ninth.

However, they have experienced a dosage of second-season syndrome this term which hasn’t been helped by the fact that their talisman has undergone an injury-riddled campaign.

The Yorkshire club are 17th, just two points above the relegation zone with Everton having a game in hand and head to the Emirates Stadium this Sunday in need of something.

Do you think Leeds United will spend big in the summer?

Their run-in thereafter consists of consecutive home games against Chelsea and Brighton before a trip to Brentford on the final day and Dinnery has hinted that Bamford could return before the end of the season.

Speaking on his YouTube channel he said (8:54):

“Patrick Bamford ruptured his plantar fasciitis and we’ve seen him pictured on an ology treadmill in recent weeks, stepped up his training this week, and then hopefully he will join the squad on the training pitches from next week”

TIF Thoughts on Bamford…

The 28-year-old has played just four times since September with his teammates failing to score in ten games that he has missed out on.

Leeds' all-time top Premier League goalscorer is Mark Viduka but how many did he score?

The Whites netted 62 goals last season but in the absence of their star striker that tally has tumbled to 38 and with their frontline unable to bail out their defensive issues their position in the table has suffered.

Chelsea may come too soon for Bamford but a return for the Brighton fixture would be a huge boost for Jesse Marsch’s side who may find themselves in the relegation zone before that game comes around.
