Liverpool enjoyed another day out at ‘Anfield South’ on Saturday, defeating Chelsea on penalties to secure their second piece of silverware of the season, adding the FA Cup to the Anfield trophy cabinet.

It was goalless after 120 minutes, with penalties needed to separate the sides… again! This time, Liverpool had the chance to win in the five penalties, but Sadio Mane’s miss gave Chelsea a lifeline in the final.

Will Liverpool do the quadruple?

Mason Mount then had his penalty in sudden death saved by Alisson, with Kostas Tsimikas making no mistakes as the ‘Greek Scouser’ won the cup for the Reds with his calm spot-kick.

The boyhood Red, Trent Alexander-Arnold, was in top form in the game, registering the only rating above eight on SofaScore. He had 117 touches and made 10 accurate long balls, displaying his importance to the side and his delightful passing range. He also won five duels from eight in the game, including some key last-ditch tackles/interventions.

Alexander-Arnold shared his joy on Instagram, with the caption ‘completed the set’ with Dani Alves commenting on the post:

TIF thoughts on Dani Alves’ comment…

Dani Alves is regarded as one of the best ever fullbacks to play the game and is the most decorated footballer in history, racking up over 40 trophies in his illustrious career. He has also said previously how much he rates the Liverpool right-back, who is breaking records of his own.

So for Alexander-Arnold to receive such recognition from that calibre of player shows just how good the 23-year-old is.

Which flop signed with Luis Suarez?

Alexander-Arnold is now the youngest Englishman to win all six available club trophies, he’s just 23 years old so if he carries on like this, surely more records will tumble.
