Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that people at Leicester City think Youri Tielemans believes he is too good for Leicester City – though his colleagues may not agree.

Following an initial loan spell, Tielemans signed permanently for Leicester City in the Premier League from Monaco for a fee in the region of £40m in 2019 and has gone to make 158 appearances in all competitions, scoring 24 goals and registering 24 assists along the way.

There have been recent reports stating that Tielemans has been linked with a move to Arsenal, with the Gunners confident they can lure him to the Emirates Stadium in the summer.

With the reports of a move away from The King Power Stadium in the summer for Tielemans, Jones highlighted to GiveMeSport that the Belgian midfielder may feel like he is too good for the club.

He said: “Tielemans feels that he should be playing at a higher level. The feeling at Leicester is that Tielemans almost feels like he’s too good to still be at Leicester, and I’m not sure people around the club agree with that.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’s comments…

Tielemans has been one of the standout performers for Leicester this season. In the Premier League, he was the third-highest scorer with six goals, had the fourth-highest average player rating (7.08) and he made the third-most key passes per game (1.2), as per SofaScore.

Although Tielemans has been impressive in terms of stats for the Foxes this season, if Leicester were offered the chance to make a profit on the midfielder, it may be hard for Brendan Rodgers to turn it down.

If Jones’ claims about the feeling within the club about Tielemans are true, Rodgers may be keen to get him out of the club and use the funds to invest in the rest of the squad.
