Phil Hay has taken to Twitter to send out an alarming message to Leeds United and their fanbase after a worrying weekend.

Leeds certainly didn’t have the best of weekends as they conceded four against the reigning Premier League champions, while relegation rivals Burnley and Everton both picked up impressive wins to put the Whites under significant pressure.

Will Leeds be relegated?

No!

Despite previously going on a five-game unbeaten run, Jesse Marsch now sees his side’s future in the Premier League in the hands of other clubs, with Everton able to leapfrog Leeds when they play their game in hand later this month following their victory over Chelsea.

This has led Hay to claim on Twitter that it had been a ‘horrific weekend’, with The Athletic journalist claiming: ‘Blindingly apparent now that results elsewhere aren’t going to do it for Leeds. Will have to pull results out the hat.’

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

While Leeds had previously been on an unbeaten run with Marsch, that has not been anywhere near good enough to keep their heads safely above water, as Burnley have now won three of their last four games and Everton continue to impress and make Goodison Park an intimidating place to go for teams.

Leeds certainly have a very tricky set of fixtures with Arsenal and Chelsea the Whites’ next two, before they finish with clashes against Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion, but if they reach those games in the bottom three, the mentality and mood amongst fans could very easily shift.
