Phil Hay has dropped a massively positive update on Kalvin Phillips’ Leeds United future.

The futures of some of Leeds’ top stars looked like they would almost certainly be away from Elland Road had they dropped down into the Championship, but after a final day win, the board can now command much larger fees and not be forced into selling players such as Phillips and Raphinha.

Will Phillips sign a new contract?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

While the latter seems as if he could still move on – with Barcelona said to be very much interested in signing the winger – Phillips could still remain at Elland Road with two years left to run on his contract and no release clause seemingly included.

It could even get better for Leeds fans, though, as Phillips might even decide to extend his stay with Leeds, as explained on The Phil Hay Show.

Hay said: “Phillips, I’m much more than two minds about. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Phillips signs a new contract.

“Equally, I think Manchester City are the team to watch with him because they do like him. Fernandinho obviously has come to the end of the line and they’ll be after a defensive midfielder.”

TIF Thoughts on Phillips’ future…

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

While Phillips will likely have big offers from clubs with European football on offer and ones with those ambitions, the fact he is a Leeds United fan and came through the academy could play on his mind when he decides what to do with his future, especially after playing such a small role in their season this time around.

It’s been a meteoric rise to the top for Phillips who only back in 2020 was playing in the Championship for the Whites, but in more recent times, he’s become an integral part of the England team under Gareth Southgate, winning the Three Lions’ Player of the Year and is a huge influence behind how Leeds play and if their results, which you can tell just by looking at how they did last season compared to this campaign when he was injured for the majority of the latter.
