Leeds United are set to make their first signing of the summer transfer window through the addition of Brenden Aaronson.

This is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking on the latest Que Golazo ‘Transfer Q&A’ on YouTube.

Do you think £28m is too much for Aaronson?

It was a nerve-wracking weekend for the Yorkshire side, who were left relying on a helping hand from Newcastle United after they completed their part of the deal by beating Brentford on Sunday.

And it seems Jesse Marsch’s men are not wasting any time in upgrading their squad, with RB Salzburg midfielder Aaronson expected to make the move to Elland Road.

The Whites were heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old in the January transfer window, but now it seems he will finally be putting pen to paper on a contract with Leeds.

Romano said: “It’s a deal that is set to be completed, set to be announced. Everything is agreed between Leeds and Salzburg.

“They were waiting to see what happened with Leeds in the Premier League, but now everything is fine. And so they’re set to complete this deal. There is an agreement on the personal terms on a five-year deal.

“So Aaronson will play for Leeds next season, will play in the Premier League, the fee will be around £28m. So everything is almost done. We’re just waiting for them to complete paperwork and then announce this interesting signing for Leeds United.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

This should only add to the celebrations at the Yorkshire club, with Aaronson clearly a name on their radar for a number of months now.

With Aaronson expected to sign soon, the Whites will be receiving a creative boost, with the young midfielder able to provide nine goal involvements this season for Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga (via Transfermarkt).

There will likely have been concerns over whether the Leeds board could’ve completed this deal had they not managed to keep their Premier League status over the weekend.

But with Romano providing Leeds fans with this update, this will surely have the Elland Road faithful going into the pre-season with some cause for optimism.
