Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Leeds United winger will leave at the end of the season even if they remain in the Premier League.

Raphinha has been a standout performer for Leeds this season, he has made 34 appearances in the Premier League whilst contributing with 10 goals, which makes him the club’s top scorer.

There have been reports that Spanish giants Barcelona have been tracking the progress of Raphinha and they made a bid for him in March. The interest has continued since then, and it was more recently confirmed that Barca are in advanced talks with the Brazilian winger over a summer move.

With the reports of a move to Barcelona for the tricky winger, O’Rourke claimed to GiveMeSport that the deal could still happen even if Leeds do stay up.

“Reading between the lines, looking at Raphinha’s body language and everything else, that looked like he was being very reflective there just after the final home game of the season at Elland Road.

“We’ve all heard the reports of Barcelona really pushing to try and sign Raphinha; that looks like it’s a real goer and could happen in the summer even if Leeds do manage to stay up,” O’Rourke said.

Will Leeds avoid relegation?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

Raphinha has been the standout performer for the Whites this season in the Premier League, he has the most amount of goal contributions (13), he has the most key passes on average per game (1.9) and he also has the most successful dribbles on average per game (1.8), as per Sofascore.

If Leeds do remain in the top flight, then it will increase the chances of keeping their star man, but with the reports of Barcelona showing interest, it is hard to see him remain at Elland Road.

Losing Raphinha would be a huge miss for Leeds because of his dominance on the attacking stats, so they would need to use the funds from him to find an adequate replacement.
