A number of Leeds United fans will be furious with Ivan Toney after seeing him make a recent Tweet seemingly mocking their club.

As things stand, it looks as though the Whites could be relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season. Indeed, with just three games to go before the end of the campaign, Jesse March and co find themselves in the bottom three.

They are, however, level on points with Burnley and just one point behind Everton – who both sit above Leeds in the table – and so there is hope of survival yet.

With Brentford, looking all but certain to stay up, nine points above the Whites, their key striker felt it was time to dig up and old video.

Indeed, he shared footage on Twitter of the Leeds players singing and mocking Bees manager Thomas Frank, saying ‘mind the gap’ with regard to their league positions during the 2019/20 season – when they finished first and Brentford were third.

To the video that dates back to 2020, Toney added the comment: “Hmm.”

TIF thoughts on Leeds and relegation…

The club’s recent woes were added too greatly on the weekend as Leeds lost to Arsenal in a game where a key error cost them a goal, and experienced defender Luke Ayling also got himself sent off.

Despite the long distance between the clubs, they seem to share quite a rivalry, which goes back to when they were both in the Championship.

Who was sent off in his first game as captain?

Clearly no love is lost between Leeds and Brentford, but with the Whites in such a concerning situation, fans will be less than pleased to see Toney rubbing salts in the wounds with this latest social media post.

No doubt, they’ll hope to have the last laugh by staying in the Premier League this term and then beating the Bees when they meet next season. Only time will tell if that can come to pass though.
