According to journalist Conor McGilligan, Che Adams could be a ‘really good addition’ to Leeds United next season under new manager Jesse Marsch and is liked by the Whites hierarchy.

The Yorkshire team struggled with strikers this season as star man Patrick Bamford struggled with injuries and only managed to make nine Premier League appearances and his backup Rodrigo failed to impress multiple times, forcing manager Jesse Marsch to opt for winger Dan James to take the lead at the front of attackers.

Considering this there is no surprise that Leeds and Marsch are looking at bringing in a new striker to accompany and maybe even take over the spot from Bamford next season. The latest rumours have a favourite of the club, Che Adams in the hot seat for a transfer to the club as it is rumoured by McGilligan that sporting director Victor Orta has been a long-term fan of the striker, even under former manager Marcelo Bielsa.

McGilligan stated on his One Leeds Fan Channel on YouTube, “Che Adams for me would be a really good addition in this Leeds United set up… Leeds have been interested in this guy several times and apparently, it wasn’t from Bielsa’s side, apparently, Bielsa liked him but from what I’ve been told it was heavily on Victor Orta’s side. So, Victor Orta is interested in this guy… so I could see Che Adams being the Premier League striker Leeds are looking at”. (9:06)

TIF Thoughts on Leeds signing Adams…

There is no doubt Leeds needs to address their issues at the striker position and signing a player like Adams could be the best idea, he will not cost much money, rumoured around £20m and he is a proven Premier League striker, which could be key for Leeds’ survival next season.

While he did not manage to set the league alight last season with only eight goals and three assists last season, this would place him ahead of the club’s other strikers Rodrigo and Bamford who managed six and two respectively. In fact, he would have only been bettered by wingers Jack Harrison and Raphinha in the Leeds goal-scoring list.

His style of play would also suit Leeds as his hold up play is terrific which would allow both Harrison and Raphinha to bomb past him which Adams can then use to arrive alter in the box and get on the end of the crosses from the two. I think for the price and possibility of Adams linking up well with the other forwards, it seems like a win/win situation.
