Fabrizio Romano has dealt a transfer blow to Newcastle United and PIF over January target while speaking on the Que Golazo YouTube channel.
Newcastle United were linked with a whole host of players during the January transfer window as PIF got to work with their new football club, but after a hectic 31 days, Eddie Howe was handed five new players who have all featured and made an impact.
Would Dembele be a good signing for NUFC?
Considering how wealthy Newcastle’s new owners are it’s no surprise that so many players have been linked, with some of them a lot more high profile than others, including Ousmane Dembele who is set to become a free agent in the summer after not coming to an agreement with Barcelona.
However, Romano has dropped a fresh twist in the Dembele saga.
(22:06) “Ousmane Dembele, he wants to stay too but this is a financial point because they are discussing with his agent Moussa Sissoko again.
They had a meeting a few days ago, but they were not yet into the details of the negotiation, it was just a meeting for the feeling they have on the player’s side, agent’s side and the club’s side.”
TIF Thoughts on Dembele potentially joining Newcastle…
Interestingly, it was reported in March that Ousmane Dembele was looking like moving to Newcastle.
While the idea of Newcastle signing Dembele last January was always one that seemed quite far fetched given he would have been leaving Barcelona who were fighting in European football and one of the biggest clubs in the world and the Magpies were inside the bottom three and facing the drop into England’s second-tier.
However, after seeing their miraculous turnaround under Eddie Howe and the impact big-name signing Bruno Guimaraes has made, if he can’t come to an agreement with the Catalan giants, he could still fancy a project on Tyneside and become a marquee signing.
