Everton midfielder Anthony Gordon has recently sent a message to the fans hinting that he is going to stay at the club next season.

Gordon made his Premier League debut for Everton in the 2019/20 campaign, but this is the first season where he has featured regularly, making 35 appearances in the league, whilst being involved in six goal contributions along the way.

There have been reports that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Gordon in the summer transfer window following an impressive campaign, with Spurs on the hunt for more homegrown talent.

Gordon is someone who has really been trusted by Frank Lampard this season, as before the last game of the season, he had started in the last nine Premier League games, helping his side survive relegation.

Despite the speculation of a move away from Goodison Park for the 21-year-old, Gordon took to Instagram to send them a message which indicated he will be staying at the club next season.

He said: “Toffees. I will never be able to thank you enough for the support and love you have shown me this year, alongside hard work, you made a lot of my childhood dreams become reality and allowed me to grow into a role I dreamt of as a kid.

“We’ve had some very good and very bad moments but we stuck together through it all. I think everyone could do without that mental rollercoaster next year, though?

“See you next time, ready for more.”

TIF Thoughts on Gordon…

Gordon has been superb for Everton in his first full season in the Premier League, recording the fourth-most goal contributions (6), the third-most shots on target per game (0.5) and creating the third-most big chances (4), as per SofaScore.

Although there is interest from clubs who finished higher up in the table, Gordon may opt to stay with the Toffees for a few more seasons at least before he makes the step up, due to him now knowing that he is going to get regular game time, which is something that may be limited if he leaves the club.

Everton struggled this season but managed to remain in the top flight, so there is likely to be a haul of changes in and out of the club in the summer to avoid a repeat situation, but Gordon may be someone who Lampard will be keen to keep due to his impressive perofrmances this campaign.
